There’s plenty of misinformation floating around when it comes to hair care, and trusting every bit of it can make your hair worse. Instead of believing every hair care tip you heard from your family or friends, or through the internet, you should only trust your hair stylist or the tips that seem logical.

1. Fine Hair Doesn’t Need Conditioner

You might have smoother hair, it doesn’t mean you don’t need to condition your hair. Proper conditioning offers volume and shine to your hair. Use the right conditioner to keep your hair thick and luscious.

2. More Brushing Is Inherently Better

You must have heard about brushing your hair 100 times before sleeping. Most people overdo it. Brushing is important to keep your hair tangle free but over brushing can make your hair weak. Brush your hair enough to untangle it.

3. Coloring Your Hair Is Unhealthy

Coloring your hair is fun. This doesn’t mean your hair can handle so many color treatments. You can prefer coloring your hair unless it doesn’t harm your hair. Don’t be afraid to get a dye job; just find a good hair stylist who can help you keep your hair healthy after your color treatment.

4. Cutting Your Hair Makes It Grow Faster

Cutting doesn’t grow your hair faster. The fact is a trim can keep your hair healthier. Hair growth depends on your diet and lifestyle. If you want long, healthy, and voluminous hair, eat a healthy diet and don’t skip your salon visits.

5. Oily Hair Needs Daily Washing

This is not true. Washing your oily hair daily can trigger the production of more oil on your scalp. Moreover, over washing can wipe out natural oils from your hair, resulting in dry and rough hair. Instead, wash your hair whenever your roots get greasy and dirty.

Hair care myths are everywhere. You should trust them but after doing your research properly. The easiest way to take care of your hair is: find a good stylist, use products based on your hair type, and avoid overdoing heat treatments such as blow dry, ironing, etc.
